Imagine the following scenario. It’s 5 AM and your alarm goes off. It’s raining outside, your bed is especially comfortable and you’re feeling drained and exhausted. Today is the day that you promised yourself you’d get up early and head to the gym. Today is the day that you promised yourself you’d take the first step. But suddenly you start reasoning with your mind. Perhaps you tell yourself that you need just 30 minutes more sleep. But after that 30 minutes you decide that tomorrow is a new day and that you can simply postpone your workout. Sound familiar?

What would you say if I told you that every time you delay your goals, you’re essentially killing your chances of a better future? After all, what you do today defines the person that you’ll be tomorrow. And while everyone else is out there working on themselves, you’re lying in your bed achieving nothing. At the end of the day, was that 30 minutes of extra shut-eye that important? I think not!

What you need to realise is that tomorrow isn’t promised. And ultimately, feelings of complacency will rob you of the life you could be living. So the next time you don’t feel like doing something, you should say: “I’m going to do it anyway”.

STOP NEGOTIATING WITH YOURSELF! “I’ll start my own business when I’m financially stable”, “I’ll start that online course after I’m done watching this show”, “I’ll go to the gym tomorrow after I’ve had a good night’s sleep”. This is your mind talking. And right now, your mind is weak! Instead of listening to your mind at this point, learn to listen to your soul and spirit. Listen to that voice (however quiet it is) that’s telling you that NOW is the time!

NOW is the time to take back your life! NOW is the time to get into shape! NOW is the time to start your business! NOW is the time to live the life you deserve!

If we all realised that we were living on borrowed time, maybe we’d have more urgency to conquer our dreams and goals? Maybe we’d realise that it’s easier than we think to change our lives, and master our mindset. Impose some discipline and use that mind control to move your life where you want it to be. You can do anything you set your mind to. You can be anyone you want to be. You can conquer every mountain ahead of you. You and you alone have the ability to shape your life and make it what you want.

Do you think that Mark Zuckerburg made his fortune by sleeping? What about Thomas Edison- do you think that all of his inventions came about without him having to do anything? If he didn’t have a razor sharp mind and the ability to focus on achieving what he’d set out to do, then we might all still be sitting in the dark today.

If I can promise you one thing today, it’s this: master your mind and you’ll master your life. So get out of bed when your alarm goes off. Make a point of doing everything on your to-do list. Show up, even when you don’t feel like it. And realise that today’s pain is tomorrow’s gain!
